"What if I became a surgeon?"
Everything you’ve always wanted to know about this profession...
On July 1–2, 2025, the “Découverte du monde chirurgical” (Discovering the World of Surgery) event took place in Geneva at SFITS (Swiss Foundation for Innovation and Training in Surgery). The two-day initiative was dedicated to third-year medical students from the University of Geneva (UNIGE), with the aim of offering them a concrete insight into the surgical profession.
Organized under the direction of Prof. Frédéric Triponez, Head of the Department of Surgery at the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), the event included discussions with heads of departments and professors from various surgical specialties, as well as hands-on workshops led by operating room professionals. Students had the opportunity to practice techniques such as suturing, microsurgery, and laparoscopy, gaining an immersive and engaging experience.
Dr. Alessandro Perin, Scientific Director of the Besta NeuroSim Center, took part in the event as a member of the faculty. It was a valuable opportunity to share expertise, inspire the next generation, and strengthen the connection between education and clinical practice.
