An ABC course specifically designed for very junior neurosurgery residents as a "driving license to neurosurgery," aiming to cover the most basic yet essential lessons for a successful and trouble-free career in the field. The primary goal was to address all fundamental aspects of neurosurgery, giving equal importance to both technical and non-technical skills. The experience was structured into modules, starting with the diagnostic process and patient communication—where professional actors portrayed patients—progressing to practical simulation sessions, and including brief theoretical lectures and discussions on real cases and critical ethical issues. Finally, the candidates participated in cadaver-lab sessions, practicing basic emergency procedures and performing craniotomies.
